CLIL: Complementing or Compromising English Language Teaching?

This is the title for the debate that will be hosted by Macmillan Education, Onestopclil and Guardian Weekly at the IATEFL International Conference in Cardiff, UK.

For those of us who are not able to attend the conference in Cardiff there are several ways to take part in the debate in www.onestopclil.com

Didactic units

As I know that all of us have now in mind the final assessment, I post here the Bloom’s taxonomy of Educational Objectives.

In 1956 Benjamin Bloom headed a group of educational psychologists who developed a classification of levels of intellectual behaviour important in learning. Bloom identified six levels within the cognitive domain. Here they are:

Knowledge	Count, Define, Describe, Draw, Find, Identify, Label, List, Match, Name, Quote, Recall, Recite, Sequence, Tell, Write
Comprehension	Conclude, Demonstrate, Discuss, Explain, Generalize, Identify, Illustrate, Interpret, Paraphrase, Predict, Report, Restate, Review, Summarize, Tell
Application	Apply, Change, Choose, Compute, Dramatize, Interview, Prepare, Produce, Role-play, Select, Show, Transfer, Use
Analysis	Analyze, Characterize, Classify, Compare, Contrast, Debate, Deduce, Diagram, Differentiate, Discriminate, Distinguish, Examine, Outline, Relate, Research, Separate,
Synthesis	Compose, Construct, Create, Design, Develop, Integrate, Invent, Make, Organize, Perform, Plan, Produce, Propose, Rewrite

After more than fifty years, this taxonomy is still very useful and practical for teachers to create didactic units, to write our lesson plans, to design activities, etc.
